What a throwback to the late 90s, early 2000s. There were a handful of games like this that let you shoot or shatter your screen.

I am the creator of Page Rage (https://page-rage.com/), which I released about two weeks ago. Page Rage didn't get too much traction on Hacker News (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49746963), but it did end up being a top post on r/webdev (https://www.reddit.com/r/webdev/comments/1whepc7/page_rage_d...) and r/playmygame (https://www.reddit.com/r/playmygame/comments/1whfp3g/my_firs...)

The linked project "Destroy any website" makes it's own distinct creative and gameplay choices. It may have been inspired by Page Rage or it may have been a case of "multiple discovery". Either way, "Destroy any website" is not a low quality slop clone, it's clearly had a lot of thought put into it

Looks like a vibe-coded clone of a project posted about 2 weeks ago: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49719443

hey, maker here. I have no idea of this one, looks pretty cool! I've rolled out my stickman game here with deep care on everything, from DO multiplayer setup, to game-feel.

Seems a little suspect that you didn't know about the other one given how similar the game mechanics work, down to the jetpack to fly around.

It is possible to both make a copy of something, and also do it with deep care and add more features, no?

We shouldn't be surprised when this sort of thing happens in the age of LLMs.

All LLMs do is select the next word based on their training data then repeat.

When people rely on vibecoding, a non-zero fraction of users will inevitably end up with the same results.

If anything, Spritefusion seems to be higher quality, especially when destroying text.

For me, on librewolf, the entire opposite is true. Spritefusion looks like an extemely buggy thingy while PageRage works incredibly well

Nice, this previous one works on mobile

For us Windows XP users, I found an old video of what I used similar to this. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/qMpLIcSbPFY

Flame throws, ants eating the screen, etc. Good times. Simpler times...

Lots of new accounts (created a few hours ago) are posing comments lie "Great fun" or stuff like that. Are these bots?
    • mplewis 1 day ago
Probably, since this entire thing is an ad for the AI pixel art product

Really enjoyed the game! Destroying those clunky, ad-filled sites with designs I can’t stand was especially satisfying. Great work!

Really guys? Detecting a desktop web browser as a "mobile phone" just because the window is sized to be taller than it is wide? Then refusing to let you use the website?
  • pseudosavant 1 day ago
This is one of my favorite things I've ever stumbled across on HN

I'm not sure that it can work anymore outside of its own web page ("works best in chrome or firefox 4") but you must check Katamari! at http://kathack.com/

Click the Katamari link at the top.

Edit: I managed to post this comment, went back to the Katameri page, played a little more with it and my Firefox crashed. It didn't use to.

Oh this is lovely. I started doing something similar, but I was generating the stage based on the DOM and some CSS features, but kept getting weird boundaries (read: the character would float on unseen edges)

I later thought about using an edge-detection algorithm to capture the page as an image (triggered on page events), but never fully implemented it and shelved the project.

I would love to know how you captured the visible edges

This was surely fun, never played such a game before. Is it competitive when we are playing the multiplayer mode?

Nostalgia-fostering and well-executed; thanks for sharing!
  • mirconeri 1 day ago
does it exist already? Probably yes. Do I care? Not really, it's pretty fun and so smooth, nice one

You should be able to destroy your own website :).

Interestingly it considers my long monitor to be a mobile. Quite peculiar how resolution was used to identify phones here.

I tried to destroy pornhub.com, but I could only get to the disclaimer :(

Remembers me of PageRage, the latter works much better on firefox and is an extension
